Expansion and Remodeling Project

Black River Memorial Hospital’s exciting expansion and remodeling project will enable us to expand and add services to meet the growing health needs of the communities we serve.

In the fall of 2005, construction began on the $21.9 million expansion and remodeling project.  The following are the project highlights:

Approximately 69,000 square feet of new space is being added to the hospital with the east and west additions and a one-story addition on the front or south side.  In addition to the new space, approximately 44,000 square feet of the existing hospital will be remodeled.

This is the largest project in the 39-year history of Black River Memorial Hospital and it will affect every hospital department.  It includes the development of many new Patient Service areas: Surgery Department, Emergency Department, 21 private Patient Rooms, 12-station Renal Dialysis Unit, Rehabilitation Center, and a Specialty Outreach Area.

The OB Department will be relocated with labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum rooms and there will be extensive remodeling and expansion in the Diagnostic Imaging, Inpatient Pharmacy, Hospice, Homecare, Food Service, Clinical Laboratory, and Respiratory Care Departments.

When the project is completed in 2008, we will have a contemporary healthcare facility with state-of-the-art technology that will serve our patients, staff, and community well, far into the future.
