What attracted you to our hospital? After moving from the Twin Cities to a home in the country, eight miles from Black River Falls, I felt a little isolated and wanted to work. I started at BRMH at just two hours a day.
What would you like people to know about your department? This department is an integral component of the hospital’s interdisciplinary team. Our medical social workers work closely with physicians, the nursing staff, and rehabilitation staff to assess patient needs, and work with patients and their families to help locate resources to meet their needs. We also play an active role in coordinating hospital discharges and locating appropriate financial and community resources. We have three certified advance directive counselors available to assist patients and the community, free of charge, in writing down their wishes about future medical treatment.
