The Respiratory Care Department provides treatments to preserve or improve pulmonary function. Services are available on an inpatient, outpatient, and emergency basis.
Therapists treat a variety of breathing disorders such as COPD, asthma, and pneumonia along with providing a variety of diagnostic testing and education in COPD, asthma, and tobacco dependency. Therapists provide respiratory care to newborns through geriatrics.
Treatment may involve oxygen, inhaled medications, breathing techniques, bronchial drainage, non-invasive and invasive ventilation.
Diagnostics include pulmonary function testing, oximetry testing, and screening for obstructive sleep apnea.
Outreach: Tobacco cessation classes are available throughout the year for community members and local businesses.
Sleep Lab: The Respiratory Care Department also has a Sleep Lab for the diagnosis of sleep-related disorders. The lab conducts sleep studies two days a week. Sleep evaluation requires a physician referral.
Homecare: Respiratory Durable Medical Equipment (DME) services are available for patients in the home environment. Oxygen, nebulizers, CPAP/BiPAP machines, and supplies are available with a physician’s prescription. For information on Respiratory DME services call 715-284-3670.
